Rev. Tonny Harris
Reverend Harris is a native of Washington, D.C. He is the oldest son of the late Deaconess Easter Harris and the late Deacon Cleveland Harris. He began his work for the Lord as a singer and choir director for the Gospel Choir at the First Baptist Church in Washington, D.C.
Growing up, he was involved in several organizations within the church. Still, the most prominent was as the youth department president for the local chapter of the National Baptist Deacons Convention of America Inc. and its Auxiliaries. He later became the youth department’s Vice President at the national level. It was there where the foundations of leadership and commitment were developed.
He is also a Toastmaster and believes that God used his experience as a Toastmaster to prepare him for the preaching ministry.
With those skills, he joined the U.S. Army and served for 33 years. While in the military, he continued working for the Lord. He was the Assistant to the Pastor of the Gospel Service at the Nellingen Barrack Chapel in Germany. He was the adult Sunday School Teacher at Shavano Baptist Church, San Antonio, TX. He was the lead tenor and assistant choir director for the main chapel at Fort Lee, Va. He also served as the Assistant Chairman of the Administration Council at Albright-Bethune United Methodist Church, State College, PA.
Rev. Harris was licensed in 2003 and ordained in 2010 under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. William H. Graham (Pastor Emeritus) at the First Missionary Baptist Church, Frederick, Maryland, where he presently serves as an associate minister under the pastorate of Rev. Timothy McLaurin Jr.
He is a Lancaster Bible College graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Bible. He also has a Master of Arts in Christian Ministry from the Rawlings School of Divinity, Liberty University.
He is a published Christian author, an accomplished gospel-jazz musician, and the sole proprietor of TDHM-LLC, his life coaching business. He is married to the lovely Deaconess Laverne Harris and has one daughter, Crystal, and one granddaughter, Ashley.
